Violas are one of those plants that can tolerate quite a bit of cold weather which tells us that you can get them planted much earlier than plants that are more sensitive to the cold.

The last month that you can plant violas and expect a good harvest is probably September. Any later than that and your violas may not have a chance to grow to maturity. You can get started a little bit earlier by starting your violas indoors.

It's important to remember that USDA zone info for Mexico may not be accurate from year to year and the actual date of last frost is different every year. Since half of the time in Mexico it frosts late in the year after April 15 be ready to cover your violas in the event of a late frost.

This means that on a really cold year, the coldest it will get is -10°F. On most years you should be prepared to experience lows near -5°F.
