The earliest that you can plant salsify in Alliance is March. However, you really should wait until April if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant salsify and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your salsify may not have a chance to fully mature. Starting your salsify indoors is a great way to get them started a couple of weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Alliance the average date of last frost happens on April 15. It might get as low as -20°F during the coldest months of winter.

Just be sure to remember that USDA zone info for Alliance is not always accurate and the actual date of last frost changes from year to year. Half of the time in Alliance you get a frost after April 15 so make sure that you are ready to protect your salsify if you have a surprise late frost.
