Since lisianthus are not cold tolerant you must wait until after the last frost when the weather gets warmer before you can plant them.

The earliest that you can plant lisianthus in Mcloud is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant lisianthus and expect a good harvest is probably August. If you wait any later than that and your lisianthus may not have a chance to really do well. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your lisianthus indoors.

Last Frost Date

The average date of last frost is April 15 in Mcloud. You can expect an average low temperature of 0°F in the coldest months of winter.

Keep in mind that the actual date of last frost is just an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Mcloud and it is different every year. Since half of the time in Mcloud last frost occurs after April 15 be ready to protect your lisianthus in the event of a surprise late frost.

This means that on a really cold year, the coldest it will get is 0°F. On most years you should be prepared to experience lows near 5°F.
