You can plant garden mums just a bit earlier in the year because they are moderately cold tolerant.

The earliest that you can plant garden mums in Fate is February. However, you really should wait until March if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant garden mums and expect a good harvest is probably September. Any later than that and your garden mums may not have a chance to grow to maturity. Starting your garden mums indoors is a great way to get them started a couple of weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

On average all chance of frost has passed is on March 15 in Fate. In the coldest months of winter you should expect an average low temperature of 10°F.

Just be sure to remember that the actual date of last frost may not be accurate from year to year because it is based on the USDA zone info for Fate and it is different every year. Half of the time in Fate last frost occurs after March 15 so always be ready to protect your garden mums in the event of one of those late frosts.
