Statice do well in moderate cold which means that you can plant them earlier than plants that are more sensitive to the cold.

The earliest that you can plant statice in Zone 1a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant statice and expect a good harvest is probably July. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your statice may not have a chance to really do well. Starting your statice indoors is a great way to get them started a little bit earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Zone 1a the average date of last frost happens on June 15. In the coldest months of winter you should expect an average low temperature of -60°F.

Always keep in mind that the actual date of last frost may not be accurate from year to year because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 1a and it will vary from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 1a last frost occurs after June 15 so just be sure to be ready to protect your statice if you have one of those late frosts.
