When can I plant Stevia in Zone 9b

The earliest that you can plant stevia in Zone 9b is March. However, you really should wait until April if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant stevia and expect a good harvest is probably September. If you wait any later than that and your stevia may not have a chance to fully mature. You can get started a little bit earlier by starting your stevia indoors.

Last Frost Date

The average date of last frost is February 15 in Zone 9b. We should expect an average low temperature of 25°F in the coldest months of winter.

Since the USDA zone info for Zone 9b may not be accurate from year to year our actual date of last frost can change quite a bit from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 9b it frosts late in the year after February 15 so be sure to be ready to protect your stevia in the event of a late frost.
