When can I plant Foxglove in Zone 11a

One of the first steps we take when we are determining our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant foxglove in Zone 11a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant foxglove and expect a good harvest is probably November. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your foxglove may not have a chance to grow to maturity. If you are starting your foxglove indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Zone 11a it never frosts. It might get as low as 40°F during the coldest months of winter.

Remember that our actual date of last frost is an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 11a and it changes from year to year. Since it never frosts in Zone 11a you do not have to be ready to cover your foxglove if we have a late frost.
