When can I plant Peas in Zone 10a

One of the first steps we take when we are figuring out our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant peas in Zone 10a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant peas and expect a good harvest is probably October. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your peas may not have a chance to grow to maturity. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your peas indoors.

Last Frost Date

On average all chance of frost has passed is on January 31 in Zone 10a. In the coldest months of winter we should expect an average low temperature of 30°F.
