When can I plant Statice in Zone 7b

One of the first steps we take when we are figuring out our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant statice in Zone 7b is February. However, you really should wait until March if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant statice and expect a good harvest is probably September. If you wait any later than that and your statice may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your statice indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

On average the last frost is on April 15 in Zone 7b. It might get as low as 5°F during the coldest months of winter.

Keep in mind that USDA zone info for Zone 7b may not be accurate from year to year and our actual date of last frost will vary from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 7b we get surprised by a frost after April 15 so be sure to be ready to protect your statice if we have a late frost.
