When can I plant Lettuce in Zone 13a

The earliest that you can plant lettuce in Zone 13a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant lettuce and expect a good harvest is probably November. Any later than that and your lettuce may not have a chance to really do well. If you are starting your lettuce indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

In Zone 13a it never frosts. It might get as low as 60°F during the coldest months of winter.

Just be sure to remember that our actual date of last frost is just an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 13a and it can change quite a bit from year to year. Since it never frosts in Zone 13a you do not have to be ready to cover your lettuce if we have a late frost.
