When can I plant Sutera in Zone 13a

One of the first steps we take when we are estimating our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

One way of making a decision about when it's possible to plant sutera is to refer to the USDA zone info for Zone 13a.

When you should plant them: Up to 3 weeks before last frost.

Since sutera do ok in moderate cold you can plant them a bit earlier in the year than other frost tender plants.

The earliest that you can plant sutera in Zone 13a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant sutera and expect a good harvest is probably November. If you wait any later than that and your sutera may not have a chance to really do well. Starting your sutera indoors is a great way to get them started a few weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Zone 13a it never frosts. We can expect an average low temperature of 60°F in the coldest months of winter.

Remember that our actual date of last frost is an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 13a and it will vary from year to year. Since it never frosts in Zone 13a you do not have to be ready to cover your sutera if we have one of those late frosts.
