On average the last frost is on April 15 in Zone 5a. It might get as low as -20°F during the coldest months of winter.

Remember that the actual date of last frost is just an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 5a and it changes from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 5a there is a last frost after April 15 so make sure that you are ready to protect your foxglove in the event of one of those late frosts.
