When can I plant Sutera in Zone 5a

The earliest that you can plant sutera in Zone 5a is March. However, you really should wait until April if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant sutera and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your sutera may not have a chance to grow to maturity. Starting your sutera indoors is a great way to get them started a few weeks earlier.

On average the last frost when the weather gets warmer is on April 15 in Zone 5a. It might get as low as -20°F during the coldest months of winter.

It's important to remember that USDA zone info for Zone 5a may not be accurate from year to year and our actual date of last frost can change quite a bit from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 5a we get a frost after April 15 so be sure to be ready to cover your sutera in the event of a surprise late frost.
