When can I plant Chervil in Zone 8a

The earliest that you can plant chervil in Zone 8a is March. However, you really should wait until April if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant chervil and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your chervil may not have a chance to grow to maturity. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your chervil indoors.

In Zone 8a the average date of last frost happens on March 15. It might get as low as 10°F during the coldest months of winter.

Keep in mind that our actual date of last frost is just an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 8a and it can change quite a bit from year to year. Since half of the time in Zone 8a there is a last frost after March 15 be ready to protect your chervil if we have a surprise late frost.
