When can I plant Geranium in Zone 8a

One of the best tools that we have as gardeners to help us determine our gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant geranium in Zone 8a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant geranium and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your geranium may not have a chance to really do well. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your geranium indoors.

The average date of last frost is March 15 in Zone 8a. It might get as low as 10°F during the coldest months of winter.

Just be sure to remember that our actual date of last frost is an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 8a and it is different every year. Since half of the time in Zone 8a there is a last frost after March 15 be ready to cover your geranium if we have a surprise late frost.
