When can I plant Arctotis in Zone 1a

One of the best tools that we have as gardeners to help us figure out our gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

By looking at the USDA zone info for Zone 1a it's possible to estimate when you can plant arctotis.

Since arctotis are one of those plants that can tolerate a little bit of cold weather you can plant them a little bit earlier in the year than more sensitive plants.

The earliest that you can plant arctotis in Zone 1a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant arctotis and expect a good harvest is probably July. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your arctotis may not have a chance to grow to maturity. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your arctotis indoors.

The average date of last frost is June 15 in Zone 1a. It might get as low as -60°F during the coldest months of winter.
