The last month that you can plant begonias and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your begonias may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your begonias indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a little bit earlier.

The average date of last frost is May 15 in Zone 2b. In the coldest months of winter you can expect an average low temperature of -45°F.

It's important to remember that USDA zone info for Zone 2b is just an average and the actual date of last frost is different every year. Half of the time in Zone 2b last frost occurs after May 15 so make sure that you are ready to cover your begonias in the event of one of those late frosts.
