When can I plant Dill in Zone 2b

One of the first steps we take when we are making a decision about our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant dill in Zone 2b is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant dill and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your dill may not have a chance to grow to maturity. If you are starting your dill indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a couple of weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

The average date of last frost is May 15 in Zone 2b. It might get as low as -45°F during the coldest months of winter.

Since the USDA zone info for Zone 2b is just an average our actual date of last frost can change quite a bit from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 2b we get a frost after May 15 so make sure that you are prepared to cover your dill in the event of one of those late frosts.
