The last month that you can plant ajuga and expect a good harvest is probably October. If you wait any later than that and your ajuga may not have a chance to really do well. If you are starting your ajuga indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a couple of weeks earlier.

On average the last frost is on January 31 in Ontario. It might get as low as 30°F during the coldest months of winter.

Remember that the actual date of last frost is not always accurate because it is based on the USDA zone info for Ontario and it can change quite a bit from year to year. Half of the time in Ontario there is a last frost after January 31 so always be ready to cover your ajuga if you have a surprise late frost.

This means that on a really cold year, the coldest it will get is 30°F. On most years you should be prepared to experience lows near 35°F.
