One of the best tools that you have as gardeners to help us figure out your gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for your area.

You should be able to determine when you can plant lysimachia by reviewing the USDA zone info for Ontario.

Planting Calendar for Lysimachia

Frost tolerance for lysimachia:	Tolerant of some frost.
When to plant:	Up to 5 weeks before last frost.

Since lysimachia are moderately cold tolerant you can plant them a little bit earlier in the year than other frost tender plants.

The earliest that you can plant lysimachia in Ontario is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant lysimachia and expect a good harvest is probably October. Any later than that and your lysimachia may not have a chance to grow to maturity. Starting your lysimachia indoors is a great way to get them started a couple of weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Ontario the average date of last frost happens on January 31. It might get as low as 30°F during the coldest months of winter.

Always keep in mind that the actual date of last frost is an average because it is based on the USDA zone info for Ontario and it can change quite a bit from year to year. Since half of the time in Ontario it frosts late in the year after January 31 be ready to cover your lysimachia if you have a late frost.

Lowest Expected Low	30°F
Highest Expected Low	35°F

This means that on a really cold year, the coldest it will get is 30°F. On most years you should be prepared to experience lows near 35°F.
