The USDA zone info for Ontario should be reffered to in order to estimate when it's possible to plant chervil.

Planting Calendar for Chervil

Frost tolerance for chervil:	Tolerant of a very small amount of frost.
When to plant:	Up to 3 weeks before last frost.

You can plant chervil a bit earlier in the year because they are one of those plants that can tolerate a tiny bit of cold weather.

The earliest that you can plant chervil in Ontario is February. However, you really should wait until March if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant chervil and expect a good harvest is probably September. If you wait any later than that and your chervil may not have a chance to grow to maturity. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your chervil indoors.

Last Frost Date

On average all chance of frost has passed is on January 31 in Ontario. You should expect an average low temperature of 30°F in the coldest months of winter.

Keep in mind that the actual date of last frost is not always accurate because it is based on the USDA zone info for Ontario and it changes from year to year. Half of the time in Ontario you get surprised by a frost after January 31 so make sure that you are prepared to cover your chervil if you have a late frost.

This means that on a really cold year, the coldest it will get is 30°F. On most years you should be prepared to experience lows near 35°F.
