When can I plant Digitalis in Zone 6a

One of the best tools that we have as gardeners to help us determine our gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant digitalis in Zone 6a is February. However, you really should wait until March if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant digitalis and expect a good harvest is probably September. Any later than that and your digitalis may not have a chance to grow to maturity. If you are starting your digitalis indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a couple of weeks earlier.

In Zone 6a the average date of last frost happens on April 15. We can expect an average low temperature of -10°F in the coldest months of winter.

It's important to remember that USDA zone info for Zone 6a may not be accurate from year to year and our actual date of last frost changes from year to year.
