When can I plant Achimenes in Zone 4a

One of the first steps we take when we are making a decision about our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

You should be able to figure out when it's a good idea to plant achimenes by looking at the USDA zone info for Zone 4a.

The earliest that you can plant achimenes in Zone 4a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant achimenes and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your achimenes may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your achimenes indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

In Zone 4a the average date of last frost happens on May 15. In the coldest months of winter we can expect an average low temperature of -30°F.
