When can I plant Lovage in Zone 3a

Lovage tend to make it in very little cold which means that you can plant them just a tiny bit earlier in the year than other frost tender plants.

The earliest that you can plant lovage in Zone 3a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant lovage and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your lovage may not have a chance to fully mature. You can get started a few weeks earlier by starting your lovage indoors.

The average date of last frost is May 15 in Zone 3a. We should expect an average low temperature of -40°F in the coldest months of winter.
