When can I plant Digitalis in Zone 12a

One of the best tools that we have as gardeners to help us figure out our gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

Digitalis do ok in mild cold which means that you can plant them a little earlier in the year than other plants that might not handle the cold.

The earliest that you can plant digitalis in Zone 12a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant digitalis and expect a good harvest is probably November. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your digitalis may not have a chance to fully mature. You can get started a couple of weeks earlier by starting your digitalis indoors.

In Zone 12a it never frosts. We can expect an average low temperature of 50°F in the coldest months of winter.
