When can I plant Potatos in Zone 12a

Since potatos are very cold tolerant you can plant them much earlier in the year than other plants that might not handle the cold.

The earliest that you can plant potatos in Zone 12a is January. However, you really should wait until February if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant potatos and expect a good harvest is probably November. Any later than that and your potatos may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your potatos indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

In Zone 12a it never frosts. In the coldest months of winter we should expect an average low temperature of 50°F.
