When can I plant Oleander in Zone 7a

One of the best tools that we have as gardeners to help us estimate our gardening schedule is the USDA zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

In Zone 7a you can figure out when it's a good idea to plant oleander by looking at the USDA zone info.

The earliest that you can plant oleander in Zone 7a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant oleander and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your oleander may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your oleander indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

In Zone 7a the average date of last frost happens on April 15. In the coldest months of winter we can expect an average low temperature of 0°F.

Just be sure to remember that USDA zone info for Zone 7a is an average and our actual date of last frost can change quite a bit from year to year. Since half of the time in Zone 7a last frost occurs after April 15 be ready to protect your oleander in the event of a late frost.
