When can I plant Bittercress in Zone 2a

Since bittercress are one of those plants that can tolerate a tiny bit of cold weather you can plant them just a tiny bit earlier in the year than other frost tender plants.

The earliest that you can plant bittercress in Zone 2a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant bittercress and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your bittercress may not have a chance to really do well. If you are starting your bittercress indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a few weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Zone 2a the average date of last frost happens on May 15. We can expect an average low temperature of -50°F in the coldest months of winter.

Since the USDA zone info for Zone 2a is just an average our actual date of last frost is different every year. Half of the time in Zone 2a there is a last frost after May 15 so just be sure to be ready to cover your bittercress in the event of one of those late frosts.
