When can I plant Green beans in Zone 2a

The earliest that you can plant green beans in Zone 2a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant green beans and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your green beans may not have a chance to fully mature. Starting your green beans indoors is a great way to get them started a few weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

In Zone 2a the average date of last frost happens on May 15. In the coldest months of winter we should expect an average low temperature of -50°F.

Keep in mind that USDA zone info for Zone 2a is an average and our actual date of last frost is different every year. Half of the time in Zone 2a there is a last frost after May 15 so make sure that you are prepared to protect your green beans in the event of a late frost.
