The earliest that you can plant broccoli in Zone 2a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant broccoli and expect a good harvest is probably August. If you wait any later than that and your broccoli may not have a chance to fully mature. Starting your broccoli indoors is a great way to get them started a couple of weeks earlier.

Keep in mind that USDA zone info for Zone 2a is not always accurate and the actual date of last frost changes from year to year. Half of the time in Zone 2a it frosts late in the year after May 15 so just be sure to be ready to protect your broccoli in the event of one of those late frosts.
