When can I plant Digitalis in Zone 2a

One of the first steps we take when we are determining our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The zone info helps tell us things like average date of last frost and lowest expected temperature for our area.

The earliest that you can plant digitalis in Zone 2a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant digitalis and expect a good harvest is probably August. Any later than that and your digitalis may not have a chance to fully mature. Starting your digitalis indoors is a great way to get them started a little bit earlier.

On average the last frost when the weather gets warmer is on May 15 in Zone 2a. We should expect an average low temperature of -50°F in the coldest months of winter.

Always keep in mind that our actual date of last frost may not be accurate from year to year because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 2a and it will vary from year to year. Since half of the time in Zone 2a there is a last frost after May 15 be ready to cover your digitalis if we have one of those late frosts.
