When can I plant Cauliflower in Zone 2a

One of the first steps we take when we are figuring out our gardening schedule is find our USDA Zone info. The most important data that the zone info tells us is average last frost and the lowest expected temperature for our area.

You should be able to determine when it's the best time to plant cauliflower by reviewing the USDA zone info for Zone 2a.

You can plant cauliflower just a bit earlier in the year because they are one of those plants that can tolerate a little bit of cold weather.

The earliest that you can plant cauliflower in Zone 2a is April. However, you really should wait until May if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant cauliflower and expect a good harvest is probably August. If you wait any later than that and your cauliflower may not have a chance to fully mature. If you are starting your cauliflower indoors then you might be able to get away with starting them a couple of weeks earlier.

Last Frost Date

On average the last frost has passed is on May 15 in Zone 2a. We can expect an average low temperature of -50°F in the coldest months of winter.

Always keep in mind that USDA zone info for Zone 2a may not be accurate from year to year and our actual date of last frost is different every year. Half of the time in Zone 2a last frost occurs after May 15 so make sure that you are ready to protect your cauliflower in the event of one of those late frosts.
