The earliest that you can plant hibiscus in Zone 2a is May. However, you really should wait until June if you don't want to take any chances.

The last month that you can plant hibiscus and expect a good harvest is probably August. You probably don't want to wait any later than that or else your hibiscus may not have a chance to really do well. Starting your hibiscus indoors is a great way to get them started a few weeks earlier.

On average the last frost is on May 15 in Zone 2a. In the coldest months of winter you can expect an average low temperature of -50°F.

Just be sure to remember that the actual date of last frost may not be accurate from year to year because it is based on the USDA zone info for Zone 2a and it will vary from year to year. Since half of the time in Zone 2a last frost occurs after May 15 be ready to protect your hibiscus if you have a surprise late frost.
